What do you see when you look in the mirror? Are you smiling? If not, why not? If it’s because you wish that your teeth were straighter, you’re not alone. Millions of people dream of a perfectly straight, shimmering smile. That’s
Metal braces were the straighten-your-teeth norm for decades. But we know they aren’t for everyone. If you are hoping to straighten your smile without unsightly and uncomfortable metal braces, consider minor tooth movement as an alternative.
Minor tooth movement is a system of clear plastic aligners that progressively move your teeth into position over time. Dr. Gittleman will fit your aligners and provide a series of future aligners to be switched every couple of weeks.
There are many advantages to using MTM instead of standard wire and bracket braces, such as:
They’re more aesthetically pleasing. Most people won’t even know you’re wearing them! Leave them
Flossing and brushing
They’re more comfortable. Traditional braces can cause discomfort and make chewing certain foods more difficult. Avoid the discomfort of metal rubbing against your lips and gums by simply removing your aligners when you eat.
You can remove them for special occasions. No one wants to wear braces at an important event. Avoid this completely by choosing minor tooth movement and simply take out your aligners when a special day comes up.
Stop worrying about how your teeth look when you smile and contact
Most people are eligible for minor tooth movement. However, there are a few things Dr. Gittleman will need to check to make sure you’re a good candidate for MTM.
Are your teeth and gums generally healthy?
Is the location of your roots conducive to tooth movement?
Do you have any gum protrusions that will push teeth back into their original position?
If you’ve decided that minor tooth movement is the right smile-straightening method for you, you can create a plan of action with Dr. Gittleman. Here’s how it works.
